Dinosaur Club

This past week was a busy one at the library!  Following our Opening Parties at four of our branches, we held a fun-filled "Grow a Reader" story time at the Iron County Community Garden on Thursday (Thanks to Linda Lane of the Garden and Debra Henk of the University of Missouri Extension Council for some great visionary collaboration on this!  And can I also toss out a thank you to Kitty Hillquist for providing some great refreshments for the families in attendance?) and a Dinosaur Club at the Ironton and Annapolis Libraries on Friday.  Pictures are forthcoming for the Garden program, but until then, I have a few snaps from the Dino Club to tide you over...

A glimpse at our Book Display table, pre-program.

Prepped materials for the "strata sandwiches"- an experiment that taught a little about fossil formation.

"Fossil" sandwiches.

After learning about how fossils are created, we moved onto making our own fossils.

Honing our archeological skills by piecing together T-Rex bones.  Thumbs up to this smart kiddo!

And Debra Henk from the Extension Council kicked our program up a notch by carting in her amazing rock and fossil collections for the kids to check out!
