Though this post is short on pictures, we had tons of fun at this summer's Book Bunch, where we discussed the dystopic science-fiction novel,
The City of Ember by Jeanne DuPrau. Participants began the program by learning to "Eat like an Emberite!", sampling all sorts of foods mentioned in the book: canned peaches, prunes, applesauce, and creamed corn, to name a few. Each food tried earned coins that could later be spent in the "Night Street Store" on prizes like erasers, magnetic bookmarks, and glow bracelets. We also held a great book discussion and finished up the program with a craft related to a scene in the book: drawing dream cities with colored pencils on the blank side of bottle labels.
Enjoy the pictures- summer (at the library, at least) is coming to an end!
